When you make your health a priority you can expect side effects!  Side effects will include losing the roll, whittling your waistline, putting that little spring in your step, and frankly, aren't you just kind of over feeling meh? It's natural to feel heavy and blah at certain times of the year, and to feel the natural call to "clean house" aka clean, clear, brighten, reset, reboot the system. And that means detox aka a good cleanout...Don't let the word Detox scare you. This is not the kind of crazy eating program that has you hungry, grumpy, and not nice to be around because you are consuming just a lemon or 2 every day with a handful of sprouts to carry you through.

In addition to losing a few pounds, I feel so much more in touch with my body and am just generally feeling more content and loving my new routines. Instead of craving a slice of pizza when I’m stressed I’ve channeled the stress into cooking delicious and healthy meals! Most of the women I work with are busy. The kind of busy that makes it seem logical, even noble that there is no time left to exercise or to make good food. Trust me, I do get it.. and when it is busy, you might actually find it gets easier when you have a plan for yourself, have lots of energy because you are doing what you know makes you feel best, and are healthy(read: not sick with the sniffles again) and strong because you've mostly stuck to what you know works for you.. Oh and you've got that extra zip that comes from being able to choose from any of your pants in the closet because you know they all fit.

Let's talk about how you can get there too.

Our bodies naturally want to clean house sometimes.  There are times when our organs and systems require a little extra support. For example, in the spring, we need to give extra love to our liver.   • Days 1-4

    These are the days to get ready. You might wean off coffee(not required), you read your materials, ask your questions, shop for any new items you might need and maybe do a bit of cooking to get yourself off to a good start.

  • Days 5-11

    These are Detox Days.  I must break this down into 2 halves.. You might be a bit ornery Monday and Tuesday. It happens. Your body will be readjusting and you might feel a bit off. Plan for good nights of sleep and time to be kind to yourself while your body adjusts. Wednesday – Sunday, you will likely feel phenomenal. Clear, happy, well adjusted and bright.

  • Days 12-15

    We reintroduce common trigger foods slowly so that you can understand what the effects are and if you are being affected by these foods.

  • I'm a bear when I am hungry, will I be starving? Nope! You may find that you have more than enought to eat eavery day. There are recipes provided for you for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks and plenty of encouragement to eat if you are hungry. This is not a deprivation plan. In fact, most people comment after the detox week that they have MORE options available than they felt they had before.
  • I'm training for a marathon(or exercise a lot) and need to keep my energy up? Can I still do this program? Yes! YOu will have more than enough to eat to keep your energy up and you can have all the protein that you need.
  • What kinds of protein will I be eating? The kinds that you like. The program is written as a Vegan program, meaning that there is not meat included. However, there is invitation and expectation that you will add in clean(antibiotic free, grass fed, responsibly raised) proteins as needed.
  • Is this a liquid only kind of thing? Nope! There are many recipes for smoothies and juices included for you, but there are to add on to solid foods that you are eating, not to replace foods.
  • I'm busy. Really busy, the kind of busy that means I haven't eaten a meal sitting down in the past week. Am I going to be able to do this or will this be just one other thing that I don't do and feel badly about? I understand busy. And I feel your pain with not sitting to eat a meal or consuming your meals while driving. I know this lifestyle well. Here's the scoop- you have 4 prep days to shop and pre-cook many of your meals. There is a magic in the preparation and planning, and I've got you covered, busy woman. The women who are the most busy often times are the most grateful at the end of this week. Your key to success is to take the leap and then prepare well, and know that I've got your back.
  • Am I going to be popping expensive supplements right and left? Nope. This is a food based program. You will see, however, one supplement that is encouraged, and that is a Probiotic. You will learn why this is important.
  • I'm pregnant or nursing and the word detox scares me. Is this safe for me and my baby? Because this is a food based program, it is safe. There will be a few things that you are very mindful about, like adding sufficient protein at every meal. Your focus becomes less about the detox and more about adding in and flooding your body with nutrient dense foods to nourish and grow a healthy little person. I have had many mamas and babies do very well with this program.
  • Will I feel awful? There may be a day or 2 where you don't like me very much. I've not seen it last longer than a day or 2. And the good news is, that if you hit your sludgy, headache-y, tired day, you can be fairly certain that the strong, energized, clear, bright and "i love my life" days are coming soon - Detox euphoria as a past participant calls it. And I will be there every step of the way with you in the forum and daily emails to hold your hand(if needed) and encourage you.
  • I don't eat gluten or dairy or meat. Can I do this? Yes, yes, and Yes! Even if you have a great diet, there is always an opportunity to take it deeper and give your digestion a break for a week or so.
  • Is this safe? I have many physicians who recommend people do this program. Yes, it is safe, and a program designed to have you eating healthy and whole foods. Please, if you have concerns it is recommended that you check with your physician or health care provider before you begin.
  • I'm not sure I can give up my_________ (insert coffee, sugar, wine, chocolate, bread, cheese). Well, good news for you. There is a cup of coffee on the plan every day, and lots of chocolate-y good things. You won't have your M & M's or girl scout cookies, but you may find that your chocolate tooth is satisfied.
  • What if I have an Event planned in the middle of the detox week? You can choose how you will navigate this. Many choose to stick to the detox principles and find something that works for them within the event. Others will plan a "diversion" from the plan. Either way is fine, and both will lead you to learning more about yourself, and that's a big part of what this is all about.
  • I travel for work, or eat meals out a lot. Do I need to pack and take my food to succeed with this? You will be empowered to make good choices in restaurant settings as well as when you travel. You may need to pack a few items so that you are sure you won't be caught off guard without a good choice, but for many this is a wonderful discovery of ways to navigate travel and meals out while keeping to a plan. Long term knowing how to make great choices for yourself in restaurants can make a HUGE difference in your health!
  • How much will my groceries cost? Is this going to break the bank? This varies. Good food can be more expensive than crappy food. And if you are used to eating out, stopping for coffee and a muffin, and snacky-snacks all day, this will likely save you money. If you are a person who cooks mostly at home, you likely have many of the items already in your kitchen. It can be done on a budget. You get to choose how much(or little) you wish to spend.
  • How much weight will I lose? I'll be honest and tell you the truth here. This is not a gimmicky quick weight loss program, and while that is true many people do lose weight on this plan, and if not weight, they lose inches and tighten up. Weight loss from real people who have done this varies from 4-15 lbs. I have many people who do *not* want to lose weight, and typically they do not. I have however seen women take what they learn about themselves in this program and drop multiples of 10lbs over the course of the months post detox by applying what they've learned. It can provide you with your "tried and true" personal success awarenesses that empower you to know what to do to support life vitality, health, and of course, weight loss.
