Diet + Long period of time = Misery. Diets are not a good long term solution. Who wants to be on a diet for an extended period of time? It’s not sustainable… or fun.
It’s been a while since I’ve written about this topic and it is something that’s near and dear to me as the dieting mentality is so painful. Just the other day, I was standing in the checkout line surrounded by magazines with the covers screaming at me. “So-and-So’s celebrity diet” and “How So-and-So lost X number of pounds”, I really just feel kind of sad. Is this the answer to health and happiness?
As a society we been shaped to think about body/food/weight loss through a deprivation mindset. The formula goes something like: stay away from what you can’t have in order to get what you DO want which is a thin body/health/happiness. Can you see the problem with the equation? We’ve been sold a bad bill of goods.
You deserve a lot more from your health mindset and your body does too.
Learning how to primarily eat a diet of whole, vibrant, healthy and delicious foods will take you where you want to go. Every time. If you do this already and aren’t getting the results you want, then a few tweaks may be in order. You can also become your best health detective, and look at what some of the underlying intolerances and sensitivities are for your unique body. You can learn to decode the ways that your body speaks to you and apply these learnings in a way that gets you the results that you’re looking for. Dieting isn’t sustainable. Good habits that make SENSE to you are easily sustainable and last a lifetime.
