You hear a lot about exercise this time of year and getting in shape.
I’ll tell you the secret… one of the biggest keys to being able to exercise and to enjoy it and to stay with it is to find something you like.
Sounds simple, doesn’t it?
If you find yourself copping out on workouts or avoiding it all together, then you haven’t found the right thing for you. When you find just the right thing you can’t keep yourself from going every day. It becomes a place for sanity, salvation and you will completely understand “exercise addiction”.
So if you think the only way to exercise is to __________ and you hate __________, then enough of that! Make your New Year’s resolution to Stop That!! Don’t make yourself do something you hate to do. It is a dead end street, with a 100% failure rate, unless you are completely driven to make yourself do something you intensely dislike for weeks. Can we really call that a “success”? There are so many amazing options at this current time in fitness choices right now…. there has NEVER been such abundance….from things you do at home to classes two programs and machines, there’s no excuse not to have anything you don’t like.
If you live in Charlottesville or close by and you’d like to try one or both of my most favorite exercise forms, drop me a message and I’ll treat you to a class at Pure Barre or Hot Yoga Cville. This time of year most studios are offering specials and packages and free classes for new students. Get out there try something different. January is a GREAT month to do so.
If you are really stumped, and don’t know where to start, message me, we can set up an appointment. I’d love to help you find a few places to try. It’s fun for me, and I can direct you to a studio, program or gym(or a few!) that will likely fit your needs. I have resources from Spin to Spinning on a Pole. SO many fun choices, I’m not kidding!
And if you think it’s too expensive, it’s time to get over that too. How much time do you spend thinking about what you would do if you were in shape? Consider the very real expense of being heavier than you want to be, sedentary, and think of all those wonderful endorphins you miss by not exercising. You’re worth the “expense” tenfold. The people around you will also enjoy being with you more when you are happy, well adjusted and confident.
