Valentine’s Day is upon us with the slew of candies, chocolates, flowers and messaging about love and how “true love” works.

Well, love is indeed wonderful, and this year, I wonder if you are up for loving yourself first as the expression of Valentine’s Day?

If you are in a partnership, then you first. 🙂

One of the women in my Love Your Body, Love Your Life program shared this image and I want to share it with you as well:

Here are some other ways self-love and care might look:

  • Treat yourself to the pretty, sexy, lacy bits- because they make YOU feel good
  • Treat yourself to a manicure or act of self-care because you treasure you. It’s amazing how far a $10 manicure will go in making you feel special every time you look at your hands
  • Treat yourself to a special dinner because you adore your strong and beautiful body and you choose to feed it good things
  • Write yourself a love letter of all the things that you think are special about you
  • Mail yourself the silliest, sappiest Valentine’s day card you can find
  • Ask some ladies out with you, or host an evening in and have Galentine’s Day festivities
  • Set aside some time that day to do your favorite thing
  • Plan the trip you’ve been dreaming of
  • Take a winter hike with pockets filled with your favorite snacks for along the way
  • Shop and prep your food for the week to your favorite music, a candle and flowers- show yourself the love all week
  • Connect with a friend you’ve been out of touch with and tell them your favorite things about them
  • Clean out your closet! Radical act of love and respect for yourself and peace and tranquility in your living space!
  • Bring in a new houseplant to freshen up a space
  • Treat yourself to flowers

Whatever it is, gift yourself. It’s different for each of us. For some, it may be time, for others, it may be a gift, for another, it may be an act of service. ❤️ You decide what makes you feel special and loved.

If you are digging this, you might really like Gary Chapman’s Love LanguagesI mentioned this last week and have gotten so much mileage from this over the years. I better understand what makes me hum happily in relationships, and it has also been so helpful in allowing me to love my treasured people better in ways that matter to them.
